York County to appeal open records ruling on 911 logs

[York] Daily Record/Sunday News

York County solicitor Mike Flannelly said Wednesday that the county commissioners will appeal a decision from the state Office of Open Records regarding what information the county must provide about 911 dispatches.

In a Right-to-Know request seeking time response logs from 911, the York Daily Record/Sunday News asked for the street and a cross street where emergency workers were dispatched as a means of determining response times. The county denied the address information, but the Office of Open Records found in favor of the newspaper on appeal.

County officials maintain that the release of that information could compromise victims' privacy.

A Common Pleas Court judge will now review the decision, Flannelly said.
